Furo[3,2-b]pyridine is a hydroxylated pyridine derivative that is found in the human liver. It inhibits the synthesis of α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors and has been shown to have inhibitory properties against cancer cells. Furo[3,2-b]pyridine also has inhibitory effects on infectious diseases, such as tuberculosis and malaria. Furo[3,2-b]pyridine binds to human liver microsomes and causes a decrease in urea nitrogen and an increase in uric acid levels. In addition, this compound has been shown to have affinity constants for polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and psychotic disorder.
