Product Information
Oxazolo[5,4-b]pyridine (OP) is a hydroxylated aromatic compound. It has been shown to be an effective analgesic and antidiabetic agent in vivo in rats. OP has been shown to inhibit the synthesis of fatty acids and lipids in rat liver microsomes, which may be due to its ability to inhibit cyclooxygenase enzymes. OP also inhibits the activity of piperazine, which is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of choline into acetylcholine. Oxazolo[5,4-b]pyridine has two amine groups that form hydrogen bonds with diphenyl ethers and other amines. These interactions may explain why oxazolo[5,4-b]pyridines are useful as ligands for metal coordination complexes.
