3-Hydroxypromazine is a phenothiazine that is used as an animal tranquilizer. It has been shown to be a potentiator of amines and maleate, which are reaction products of the drug. 3-Hydroxypromazine also reacts with butanol to form conjugates. Sulfoxide and n-oxide are two other metabolites of 3-hydroxypromazine, which are formed through conjugation with sulfides and nitrates. This drug can be found in human urine and can be detected using electrochemical methods. 3-Hydroxypromazine may also react with sulphur dioxide to produce monophenolic compounds.
