Ψ-Taraxasterol is a sesquiterpene lactone that has been shown to have inhibitory effects on acetylcholinesterase, an enzyme that breaks down the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Ψ-Taraxasterol also inhibits other enzymes, such as tiglic acid, preparative hplc, and histological analysis. This compound has been shown to be effective in models of colorectal adenocarcinoma in rats and mice. Ψ-Taraxasterol has been isolated from the genus Taraxacum.
