The oxidation products of 11H-benzo[a]fluoren-11-one include quinones, which are known to have mutagenic effects. An analytical method for the determination of 11H-benzo[a]fluoren-11-one was developed using electron impact mass spectrometry and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry.
