It has been shown to have potent induction effects on cytochrome P450 (CYP) 1A1 and fluorescence lifetimes. Although there are no health effects of 11H-benzo[a]fluoren-11-one, it is important to note that it can interact with other chemicals in the environment and produce potential adverse effects. The oxidation products of 11H-benzo[a]fluoren-11-one include quinones, which are known to have mutagenic effects. An analytical method for the determination of 11H-benzo[a]fluoren-11-one was developed using electron impact mass spectrometry and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry.
