(6,7-Dimethoxy-isoquinolin-1-yl)-(3,4-dimethoxy-phenyl)-methanol is an oxidation product of papaverine. It has been shown to inhibit microbial biotransformation and chromatographic methods. In addition, it inhibits the production of bioactive molecules in human serum. (6,7-Dimethoxy-isoquinolin-1-yl)-(3,4-dimethoxy-phenyl)-methanol also exhibits an inhibitory effect on the enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of papaverine to hydroxide solution in humans. The structure of this compound is similar to that of 6,7 Dimethoxyisoquinoline and 3,4 Dimethoxyphenethylamine.
