3-Hydroxy-2-phenylquinoline-4-carboxylic acid (3HPC) is a drug that inhibits glutamate pyruvate transaminase (GPT), an enzyme involved in the metabolism of amino acids. 3HPC has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects, which may be due to its ability to inhibit GPT. This drug is used for the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis. 3HPC also has a polymeric matrix form, which is designed to release the drug slowly into the body over time. The dose of 3HPC should be adjusted according to the severity of symptoms or underlying conditions, and should not exceed a daily dose of 1 g per day.
