2,3-Diacetoxybenzoic acid is a molecule that is used as an analog for 2,4-diaminobenzoic acid. It has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis by binding to the amino group of amino acids and inhibiting their attachment to ribosomes. The compound also inhibits the production of hydroxyl radicals in water vapor. 2,3-Diacetoxybenzoic acid has been shown to be a biocompatible polymer with no adverse effects on bacteria or mammalian cells.
2,3-Diacetoxybenzoic acid's molecular weight is 218 g/mol and its melting point is 155 °C.
