2-(Diethylamino)ethyl 4-amino-2-hydroxybenzoate is a hydroxylated aromatic amine, which is used as a fluorescent probe for fluorescein angiography. This compound binds to the sphenopalatine ganglion and shows inhibitory effects on the production of proinflammatory cytokines and nitric oxide in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis, an animal model for multiple sclerosis. It also has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in chronic dry eye syndrome.
