Description

Gualol-D7 is a natural compound that is extracted from the roots of B. dracunculifolia. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties in vitro assays. Gualol-D7 inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα), by inhibiting the expression of nuclear factor kappa B (NFκB). It also inhibits the production of cyclooxygenase 2 (COX2) and lipoxygenase (LOX), which are enzymes that produce inflammatory prostaglandins. The mechanism of action for Gualol-D7 is not well understood, but it may be due to its ability to inhibit cell factor or activate macrophages.
