4-Aminobutyl-3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)acrylamide is a plant hormone that inhibits the synthesis of auxin and gibberellins. It is used in tissue culture and food composition. The natural form of this compound is found in plants such as Solanum tuberosum, where it has been shown to inhibit root formation. 4-Aminobutyl-3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)acrylamide is also found in human metabolism, where it can be synthesized from phenolic acid by hydrogen bonding with light exposure.
