16-Hentriacontanone is a chemical compound that is soluble in methanol. It has been used as a solvent in the synthesis of fatty alcohols and reaction products. 16-Hentriacontanone has also been used to study the chemical properties of staphylococcus bacteria. The hexane extract from the acetate extract of Ophiopogon japonicus was found to contain a number of fatty acids, including 16-hentriacontanoic acid. A sub-effective dose of 16-hentriacontanone was found to be an effective treatment for fetal bovine serum, leading to high levels of acetate extract and 16-hentriacontanoic acid in the blood stream. This may be due to its linear model, which causes it to have carbonyl group reactivity with liver cells and other cells in the body.
