13(E)-Docosenoic acid is a fatty acid with an unsaturated hydroxyl group and two nitrogen atoms that are bound to the hydroxyl group. It has been shown to induce human liver cells to produce the enzyme cytochrome P450, which is involved in the synthesis of bile acids. 13(E)-Docosenoic acid also has been detected in human serum and has been used as a model system for determining the effects of dietary fatty acids on liver function. The compound was found to be capable of inhibiting synchronous fluorescence in vitro, indicating its potential as an anti-cancer drug. 13(E)-Docosenoic acid has also been shown to have plant physiological effects, such as inducing seed germination and inhibiting flowering in plants. This compound may also be useful for molecular docking analysis due to its high molecular weight.
