22-Hydroxydocosanoic acid is a reactive fatty acid that belongs to the group of fatty acids. It has been shown to inhibit cytochrome P450s and acetate extract from the liver microsomes of rats. 22-Hydroxydocosanoic acid also reacts with metal surfaces, such as calcium stearate, forming reaction products. These products are formed by hydrogen bonding between the carbonyl group in 22-hydroxydocosanoic acid and the hydroxyl groups on calcium stearate. The structural formula for 22-hydroxydocosanoic acid is given below:
