Xylylazo Violet II is a glycol ether that is used as a spectrophotometric reagent for magnesium. It has been shown to be an effective model organism for the study of the polymerization of pentaerythritol and acrylamide. Xylazine violet II has also been found to have beneficial effects on cardiovascular diseases such as angioplasty and metabolic disorders. This water-soluble dye is a linear, covalent complex with a hydroxyl group, which can form hydrogen bonds with other molecules. The dye has been used in clinical chemistry as an indicator of plasma glucose levels due to its ability to bind to glucose.
