Acridine-3,6-diamine dihydrochloride is a fluorescent probe that is used as a fluorescent label in cell biology. It has been extensively studied for its biological properties. Acridine-3,6-diamine dihydrochloride binds to DNA and stains the cell nuclei with a bright green color. Acridine-3,6-diamine dihydrochloride can be used to identify cells during the S phase of the cell cycle. Acridine-3,6-diamine dihydrochloride is also used to measure radiation damage in vitro by binding to DNA and fluorescing when irradiated with γ rays or X rays. Acridine-3,6-diamine dihydrochloride has also been shown to inhibit bacterial growth in vitro. This effect may be due to its ability to bind to the bacterial dna gyrase enzyme and block DNA replication. Acrid
