Benzylideneaniline is a colorless liquid with a sweet, aromatic odor. It is used as an intermediate in the manufacture of dyes, pharmaceuticals, and other organic compounds. Benzylideneaniline has been shown to be reactive with hydroxyl groups and can cause bowel disease. It also has high values for hydrogen bond formation and can be used as a solid catalyst in the synthesis of quinoline derivatives. The molecule can undergo molecular docking analysis to determine its reactive site. In addition, benzylideneaniline has been shown to have anti-inflammatory activities that may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
