Description:

Amyl butyrate is a glycol ester that has been shown to bind to and activate the TRPA1 receptor in cells. It has also been shown to inhibit prostate cancer cell growth by activating this receptor. Amyl butyrate can be synthesized from triglycerides, caproic acid, and hydrogen fluoride using a variety of methods. This chemical is used as an odorant for microcapsules and as a biological sample for solid phase microextraction.
