Aniline sulfate is a hydrochloric acid salt of aniline, which is a colorless liquid with a strong odor. It is soluble in water and reacts with phosphorus pentoxide to form reaction products that are often used as dyes. Aniline sulfate also has the ability to react with hydroxyl groups from human serum or other organic substances. It can be used for the production of biodiesel by reacting with sodium hydroxide solution, hydroxide solution, or sodium carbonate. Molecular modeling has shown that aniline sulfate may act as an electron acceptor for ethylene diamine, forming an alkoxy radical. This radical then reacts with inorganic acids such as nitric acid to form nitrosobenzenesulfonic acid and nitrobenzenesulfonic acid, respectively.
