9(Z),11(E),13(Z)-Octadecatrienoic acid (9-oxo-ODE) is a metabolite of arachidonic acid. It is formed by the oxidation of arachidonic acid in the liver and kidney. 9-oxo-ODE has been shown to have a number of physiological effects, such as lowering bowel disease severity and treating metabolic disorders. 9-oxo-ODE has also been shown to be an effective treatment for inflammatory bowel disease in mice, although it is not yet known whether this effect is due to its anti-inflammatory properties or its ability to inhibit energy metabolism.
