Octaphenylcyclotetrasiloxane is a compound that belongs to the class of fatty acid esters. It has been shown to be an efficient cross-linking agent for polymers and natural fibers. Octaphenylcyclotetrasiloxane is used as a reaction product in the Friedel-Crafts reaction, which can be used to synthesize calcium stearate. The molecule also has high UV absorption and shows a significant increase in UV light absorbance when it reacts with human serum. Octaphenylcyclotetrasiloxane forms hydrogen bonding interactions with other molecules, such as diphenyl ethers, due to its phenolic group.
