Nicothiazone is a drug that binds to nitrogen atoms. It is implanted in the stomach to treat chronic pulmonary tuberculosis, where it works by preventing the growth of bacteria. Nicothiazone has been shown to have a targetable effect on hydrochloric acid corrosion, and can be reconstituted with diluent solutions such as water or alcohols. This drug also acts as a corrosion inhibitor, which may be due to its ability to protonate and block the formation of corrosion products on metal surfaces. This process occurs at low energy levels, making it an ideal candidate for electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) studies.
