Description

Silicon tetraacetate is a chemical compound that is used as a transporter for hydroxyl groups. It has been shown to be useful in cell culture, where it can be used to transport hydroxyl groups from anhydrous sodium hydroxide to cells. Silicon tetraacetate has been shown to have a high affinity for phospholipid bilayers and non-polar surfaces, such as those found in fatty acids. This property makes it ideal for the study of chemical species, including those with a phosphorus pentoxide group. Silicon tetraacetate can also be used as an analytical tool for the study of silicon-containing compounds, such as silicon itself or the fatty acid octadecenoic acid.
