Tri-m-cresyl Phosphate (TMPP) is a transcriptional regulator that inhibits the expression of lymphocyte transformation. It binds to DNA by covalent bonding and interacts with the SV40 transcriptional activator protein. TMPP has been shown to inhibit the growth of swiss-webster mice, which are susceptible to tumor development, by inducing apoptosis in lymphocytes. TMPP also induces malonic aciduria in rats, which is an indication of metabolic disorder. The binding site on DNA for TMPP can be determined using analytical methods such as dry weight and human serum. Molecular docking analysis has also been used to determine the binding sites for this molecule on the rat liver microsomes.
