Benzaldehyde Phenylhydrazone is a diagnostic agent that is used to detect the presence of 4-chlorobenzaldehyde oxime in trimethyl. This compound reacts with picolinic acid and nitro groups to form a diazonium salt, which can be detected by the addition of hydrochloric acid and phosphorus pentachloride.
