Description:

Triethylphosphine oxide is a molecule with the chemical formula P(OEt)3. It contains a hydroxyl group, three oxygen atoms, and three carbon atoms. Triethylphosphine oxide is an oxide that contains nitrogen atoms, hydrogen bonding interactions and has a redox potential of +1.7 V. It is also an activator for the synthesis of zirconium oxide. Triethylphosphine oxide reacts with trifluoroacetic acid to produce hydrogen fluoride, which is used in the production of polymers and plastics. The compound can be found in x-ray crystal structures where it binds to molecules containing hydrogen bonds or hydrogen fluoride.
