2,3-Dinitroaniline is an organic compound that can be used as an analytical reagent. It is prepared by reacting a nitrobenzene with sodium hydroxide in water to produce 2,3-dichlorobenzene and 2,3-dinitroaniline. 2,3-Dinitroaniline can be used as a sample preparation agent for the analysis of liposomal formulations (such as infantum) and herbicides. The reactivity of 2,3-Dinitroaniline is determined by the presence of chlorine atoms in its structure and it has been shown to have carcinogenic potential if hydrochloric acid is present. This chemical has also been shown to inhibit cyclohexane ring formation due to intramolecular hydrogen bonding.
