2-Hydroxyanthracene is a compound that belongs to the polycarboxylic acid family. It is a neutral form of 2-hydroxyanthracene and has been shown to have potential use as an energy storage material. The kinetic study of this compound has been done using a reaction vessel, which led to the conclusion that it can be used as an enzyme substrate. 2-Hydroxyanthracene also reacts with various compounds such as methyl ethyl, hydroxyl group and thermally, which are all aromatic hydrocarbons. This chemical can be synthesized by reacting with phenol and ethylene glycol in the presence of hydrogen chloride gas.
