Description:

N,N²-Diphenylformamidine is a reactive chemical compound that has been shown to bind with picolinic acid and form an adduct. This adduct is then able to react with potassium hexafluorophosphate to form the final product, N,N²-diphenylformamide. In vitro experiments have shown that this adduct reacts with DNA in a manner that inhibits DNA synthesis and causes cell death. The reaction mechanism of N,N²-Diphenylformamidine is not yet fully understood but it may involve hydrogen bonds between the hydroxyl group on the amine and nucleophilic sites on the phosphate backbone of DNA or RNA.
