Description:

2-Methyl-2-hexanol is a nonpolar organic compound that is a major component of the headspace of eucalyptus oil. It has been shown to have anticancer activity in vitro and in vivo. 2-Methyl-2-hexanol has also been used for the synthesis of ethyl formate, which is an important precursor for the manufacture of acetic acid. The uptake and metabolism of this chemical can be studied using a constant pressure or linear regression analysis. The uptake and metabolism of 2-methyl-2-hexanol can be analyzed by examining its interactions with other chemicals such as α-pinene, which is a hydrocarbon found in pine needles and other plant resins.
