Quinone-4-chloroimide (PCI) is an organic compound that is used as a pharmaceutical intermediate. It has been shown to have a blood pressure lowering effect in rats. PCI has also been found to be active against potassium dichromate, which is a commonly used oxidizing agent in wastewater treatment. PCI reacts with amines and neutral ph compounds, leading to the formation of aliphatic hydrocarbons. The molecule is capable of reacting with benzene and other aromatic hydrocarbons to form quinones, which are useful intermediates in the manufacture of pharmaceutical preparations.
