Tetradecanamide is a glycol ether that is used in polymer composition. It has been shown to have an amoebicidal activity against Entamoeba histolytica, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the microbial growth by interacting with the cell membrane. Tetradecanamide has significant interactions with monoethyl ether and sodium salts, which have been shown to have amide-like properties. The biological sample preparation includes the removal of excess water, followed by drying under vacuum at room temperature for 30 minutes. The reaction mechanism for tetradecanamide involves a dehydration reaction between the hydroxyl group on the fatty acid and monoethyl ether in the presence of sodium salt.
