3-Nitroaniline-4-sulfonic Acid is a chemical compound that is produced by the metabolism of 2-isopropoxyphenol. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of Pseudomonas species and may be used as an antibiotic. 3-Nitroaniline-4-sulfonic Acid inhibits the synthesis of amino acids and proteins in bacteria, which leads to cell death. It also inhibits the growth of pseudomonads when they are grown on media containing methylamine as a nitrogen source. 3-Nitroaniline-4-sulfonic Acid can be degraded by both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, although it has not yet been determined if this breakdown occurs through hydrolysis or other processes.
