2-{3-Chloro-4-[(oxiran-2-yl)methoxy]phenyl}acetic acid (CMPAA) is a photoactive compound that can be used for the photoreduction of aromatic compounds, such as N-acetylanthranilic acid and 2,6-dichlorophenolindophenol. CMPAA can also be used in photolysis studies, which involve the interaction of electron transfer with light. When irradiated with UV or visible light, CMPAA will release electrons that are transferred to an electron acceptor. The quantum yield of this process is dependent on wavelength and intensity of light.
