Product Information
- Pyrimidine, tetrafluoro-
Tetrafluoropyrimidine is a reactive, nucleophilic chemical species that has the ability to form hydrogen bonds. Tetrafluoropyrimidine reacts with hydrochloric acid to form diazonium salts, which are highly reactive and can be used as a source of oxygen nucleophiles for reactions with other chemical species. Tetrafluoropyrimidine inhibits an enzyme in the liver called heme oxygenase-1 by reacting with the nitrogen atoms of the enzyme, preventing it from functioning properly. Tetrafluoropyrimidine also inhibits the production of cholesterol in cells by reacting with chlorine atoms and then forming a covalent bond with neighboring molecules. This reaction prevents the formation of fatty acids and cholesterol synthesis, which are essential for cell growth.
