2-Methyl-1-phenylprop-2-en-1-one is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of organometallic compounds. It has an average particle diameter of 4.8 nm and is soluble in organic solvents such as benzene, toluene, and chloroform. 2MPP has been shown to have antihistaminic activity in rats, which may be due to its cationic polymerization with histamine. This compound can also be used as a catalyst for copolymerization and hydrolysis reactions. It reacts with zirconium dichloride under ultraviolet light and has an absorption maxima at 313 nm. 2MPP is used in the synthesis of polyphosphate esters, which are used as flame retardants or water treatment agents.
