Product Information
1-Methylnaphthalen-2-amine is a mutagenic compound that can be used to induce mutations in the DNA of a bacterial cell. The microsomal preparations of 1-methylnaphthalen-2-amine are more mutagenic than those of other carbazole derivatives. This compound has been shown to be more mutagenic than its isomers, which may be due to the presence of chlorine substituents at the methyl group. Mutagenicity is higher at higher temperatures and when alkyl substituents are present. It has been shown to cause mutations in Salmonella typhimurium strains TA98 and TA100.
