Triphenylmethylsilane is a heterocyclic compound with the formula CH3CH2Si(CH3)3. It is a colorless liquid that evaporates readily. Triphenylmethylsilane is used as a cross-linking agent and antioxidant in organic solvents, such as cyclohexanone and phenoxyethanol. The compound can be synthesized by the reaction of boron nitride with chlorine or metal ion, or by metathesis reactions using alkene and cyclohexane ring. It has been shown to have antioxidant properties in the presence of metal ions, especially when it was tested on polystyrene surfaces.
