Sodium linolenate is a fatty acid that is found in soybean products and has been used as a pharmaceutical drug. It has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the bacteriolytic activity of sodium salts. Sodium linolenate inhibits the synthesis of fatty acids and also inhibits cardiac glycoside-induced contractions in vitro. This compound is not active against bacteria, but has been shown to be effective against viruses in vitro.
