Product Information
- 1,3,4-Oxadiazole, 2-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-
2-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole is a neurotoxic compound that belongs to the class of phenylhydrazones. It has been found to be a potent inhibitor of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase and thus has significant neurotoxic activity. 2-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole inhibits acetylcholinesterase by binding to the active site with high affinity and specificity. This inhibition leads to an accumulation of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction causing paralysis and death. 2-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole has shown neurotoxicity when administered either orally or intraperitoneally in rats.
