Product Information
- 18-Methylestrone methyl ether
- 13-Ethyl-3-methoxygona-1,3,5(10)-trien-17-one
Ethylmetrienone is an ether that is prepared by a Wittig reaction between methylchlorosilane and ethylene oxide. The wittig reaction is a condensation reaction, which can be used to make methyl esters from carboxylic acids. This compound is also an epimer of desogestrel, which can be converted back to the original chemical by the intramolecular rearrangement of the cyclopropene ring. Ethylmetrienone has been shown to be assembled with phosphonium salts to form phosphonium salts and then undergo an acid-catalyzed isomerization in order to form a new compound.
