Potassium citrate monobasic is a potassium salt of citric acid that is used as a food additive and in the treatment of metabolic acidosis. It is used to treat conditions such as insulin resistance, obesity, and type 2 diabetes. Potassium citrate monobasic may be effective in the treatment of these diseases by increasing the amount of insulin released from the pancreas.
