Product Information

Name:
Dichlorodipropyltin
Description:

Dichlorodipropyltin is a molecule that has biological properties. It is soluble in water and organic solvents, but not in chloroform. This product has a molecular weight of 240. Its structure is shown on the right. Dichlorodipropyltin can be detected using a fluorescence detector with a wavelength of 365 nm. The product also contains an alkylthio group and two hydroxyl groups. Dichlorodipropyltin binds to DNA and inhibits tumor growth by preventing the synthesis of RNA from DNA, which prevents protein synthesis and cell division. It also inhibits metathesis reactions by forming covalent bonds with sulfur atoms in mercuric chloride, causing it to precipitate out of solution as mercury sulfide.
