Product Information
1-allyl-3-(pyridin-2-yl)thiourea is a ligand that forms a chelate ring with palladium. This ligand is bidentate, meaning that it binds to two metal ions. The central carbon atom has two different groups bound to it, which are called the "R" group and the "N" group. The R group is an electron donating group and the N group is an electron withdrawing group. This molecule is tautomeric because the two different forms of this molecule have similar energies. When chloride ions are present, 1-allyl-3-(pyridin-2-yl)thiourea has a red shift in its hypsochromic effect. This compound is an allosteric inhibitor of enzymes such as DNA gyrase and RNA polymerase, which are involved in protein synthesis and replication, respectively.
