Product Information
- acetamide, N-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-
3,4-Dimethoxyaniline is an organic solvent that has a high boiling point and is used as a reactant in the synthesis of other compounds. It can also be used to synthesize pesticides, such as triazole, which are agrochemicals that inhibit the growth of fungi. 3,4-Dimethoxyaniline has been shown to have antirheumatic properties and can be used to synthesize medicines for arthritis. This compound is metabolized by deamination into formaldehyde and formic acid. The nitro group on the molecule can be reduced to an amino group by treatment with sodium dithionite or hydrogenation with platinum oxide. 3,4-Dimethoxyaniline also reacts with halogens (such as chlorine) to give chloro-, bromo-, or iodomethane derivatives.
