1,3-Dibenzylidene-2-cyclohexanone is an organic compound with a molecular formula of C6H5CH(CH=N)CH2. It is a kinetic product that has been shown to have inhibitory effect on tyrosinase activity by hydrogen bonding and steric interactions. It also inhibits the production of melanin in the skin. The molecular modeling study revealed the reaction mechanism of this compound. 1,3-Dibenzylidene-2-cyclohexanone is a quinoline derivative that reacts with tyrosine to form a thione. This thione then reacts with phosphorous pentachloride to produce a carbonyl group and hydrogen chloride gas, which are both toxic to cells.
