Description

S-Phenyl Thioacetate is a dpp-IV inhibitor that has been shown to have a second-order rate constant of 0.5 M−1s−1. It is an amide with a molecular weight of 170.2 g/mol and a pKa of 4.8. This drug binds to the active site of the enzyme and blocks its activity, which may lead to the prevention or slowing of development of diabetes mellitus type 1. S-Phenyl Thioacetate has been shown to inhibit enzyme activities in a number of different models, including those containing amines and amides, as well as chloride ions, which are required for enzymatic activity in most cases. The binding constant for this drug was determined experimentally using molecular modelling techniques as 3 x 10^10 L mol^−1 at 25°C and 1 x 10^6 L mol^−1 at 37°C.
