Benzyldimethyldecylammonium chloride is a cationic surfactant with broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity. It is used as a disinfectant, for the treatment of alopecia areata and other skin conditions, and as an absorption enhancer in topical pharmaceuticals. Benzyldimethyldecylammonium chloride has been shown to be effective against a wide range of bacteria, including antibiotic-resistant strains such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). This compound also has high solubility in water and can be easily absorbed into the skin.
