6,7-Dichloro-1-tetralone is a drug that is used to treat opioid addiction. It has been found to bind to the β-adrenergic receptor, which is implicated in the addictive properties of opioids. 6,7-Dichloro-1-tetralone also has affinity for epoxides, with high rates of ring opening and thionyl chloride resistant. The compound undergoes dehydrogenation reactions and can be synthesized by the Friedel-Crafts reaction. It is also able to form chlorides from piperidine and morpholine.
6,7-Dichloro-1-tetralone is an injectable drug that has been shown to have some degree of resistance against chlorine compounds. This means that it cannot be removed by washing with bleach or other agents containing chlorine. The compound can be detected using NMR spectroscopy at 6.8 ppm for protonated molecules
