Product Information
- 3-Piperidin-3-yl-propan-1-ol
3-Piperidin-3-ylpropan-1-ol is a hydrochloride salt of piperidine. It can be synthesized in three steps from diethyl ether, methanol and hydrochloric acid. The first step involves refluxing the diethyl ether with hydrochloric acid to produce ethyl chloroacetate. This is then reacted with methanol to produce 3-piperidin-3-ylpropan-1-ol. The final step entails the mesylation of piperidine with methanesulfonyl chloride to produce 3-(piperidin)-3-ylpropan-1-ol. A Grignard reaction involving magnesium and formaldehyde produces 3-(pyrrolidin)-3-ylpropanal, which reacts with hydrogen chloride gas to form 3-(pyrrolidin)-3-ylpropanoic acid hydrochloride. Finally, this compound is reacted
